In April 2020 Boo and Findlay ran an online songwriting course for Moniack Mhor: Scotland’s Creative Writing Centre. There were 12 participants and they were really struck that they were able to work with people who were geographically remote and others who wouldn’t normally be able to afford a residential course. 

 

Since then the pair have run four five-day songwriting retreats, three eight week night classes and a number of weekend Zoom based songwriting workshops. They have welcomed Karine Polwart, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Charlie Dore and Emily Barker as special guests. The format was transferred to Boo's "Atlantic Crossing" workshop (w/ Chris Difford, Darden Smith and Mary Gautier) Findlay's Glasgow Songwriting Workshop and an online retreat with Reg Meuross and special guest Julie Gold)

 

The courses challenge writers of various levels through examples and exercises. Each day they will set two tasks for the participants and offer feedback on those completed tasks.

The weekend workshops in 2023 will also feature a Q&A with Findlay and Boo and a "What's Next?" workshop where the pair will talk  share some very practical advice about what to do next with your songwriting. Including recording, releasing your work, promotion, playing live, getting your songs covered by other artists, making an overall plan. These are all things that Findlay and Boo deal with everyday and have some very useful advice to share with you.
